Weddings

Getting married in Woerden?
You should do this in the heart of the city, in the 16th-century town hall. Our old building still breathes the romantic atmosphere of a distant past.

Wedding, drink or reception
In the most beautiful room, the Vroedschapszaal, the atmosphere is determined by the stained glass windows, the 17th-century wooden panelling, the antique furniture and the beautiful paintings. An amazing background for the most beautiful day of your life! Weddings are organized in the Vroedschapzaal, but also drinks, receptions or the cutting of the wedding cake. It is also possible to take wedding photos in the museum.

How does it work?
You must first contact the museum to check whether the Vroedschapszaal is available on the desired date. If so, the museum will make a reservation. Then you must contact the municipality to book your wedding via the Wedding Desk.

Practical information

  • The Vroedschapszaal can accommodate up to 50 people. There are seats for approx. 30 people.
  • There is no elevator in the building.
  • Getting married in a monument is very special, but requires careful handling by both the bridal couple and the guests of the objects in the Vroedschapszaal. The line-up in the Vroedschapszaal is standard for weddings. Only after consultation the museum can provide an adapted arrangement.
  • The bridal couple and the guests are welcomed downstairs by our employees. No one from the museum is present at the ceremony itself.

  • Cost of weddings at the City Museum (per 01 01 2024):
    - on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays € 250
    - on Fridays and Saturdays €350
    - on Sundays €450
  • Extra service: if desired, the museum can provide a different setup, support from an employee during the ceremony in the Vroedschapszaal and a sound system. Ask the museum about the costs. See also: Renting a room.
  • It is not allowed to sprinkle rice or confetti inside or outside the building during or after the wedding ceremony.
